The Preteen/Teen class combines traditional Martial Arts training with a high level of character development. Students are taught self defense which builds confidence. An improved sense of confidence reinforces positive feelings about themselves and others.
We want our children to be safe. The best way to accomplish this is to have a set plan both at home and away from home. The need for self defense both mentally and physically are important. Our programs address the life skills and mental awareness that we must teach our children. You can start anytime.

Our programs reinforce discipline and courtesy. By using gestures of respect and polite greetings, the structure of courtesy is built into our class instruction. Students will develop improved coordination, and increase strength and flexibility, which is so important during growing years.
Martial arts is great for the mental health of children.
A psychological study found that children who train in Martial Arts have an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks, and a higher sense of self esteem. This is is why millions of parents and guardians are looking to Martial Arts to supplement their children’s education.
Our reward system improves children’s self esteem.
The belt system is the key to building esteem. When students earn a belt, it gives them a great sense of accomplishment that improves the way they feel about themselves overall.
Our Program teaches children discipline.
We have a trained staff of patient instructors who love to work with children and are very clear about limits. We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and we expect the same rules of behavior at home and in school.

What Parents Are Saying…
“It takes a special person to harness the energy and enthusiasm of a class of 4 – 5yr olds and the owner of Blue Life Karate, Durand Howard, is one of those kinds of individuals. This past weekend I personally witnessed Mr. Howard get a group of 10 young boys who seemed to all come in on a sugar high, to focus on the lesson and earn a coveted “Karate silly band” at the end of class. If you’re looking for a fun activity for your girl or boy that provides an opportunity to work on listening skills, gain some physical activity, and a feel sense of accomplishment, give Blue Life Karate a try! ”
